“Jorge’s Chicken is the best chicken in Puerto”. That was the call made by Edwardo a brother in the congregation here in reference to the way another brother cooks chicken. We are inclined to agree. Although it’s mostly the way this brother says “Jorge’s Chicken” not just the chicken itself that makes me put finger to key. Jorge’s Chicken,Jorge’s Chicken, Jorge’s Chicken we can’t stop saying it and neither can Edwardo so it’s kinda been the catch cry of the trip so far, although “chunks that stinks” is quickly gaining ground.

… Jorge’s Chicken we can’t stop saying it …

Unfortunatly I can’t explain why the expression “Jorge’s Chicken” is so easy on the ears and even easier to say “Jorge’s Chicken”, “Jorge’s Chicken”, “Jorge’s Chicken”, there I go again. Give it a go it’s worth a shot. What I can explain though is the product. When Justin and I had the privilege of sampling, we pillaged those birds for all the flesh they could give up. It is an old recipe that has been carefully preserved and handed down though the family. To them we say thankyou for the pains they took on our behalf.

… a gigantic tail feather in his cap

To say “Jorge’s Chicken”, is the best in Puerto is a gigantic tail feather in his cap, as Puerto seems to be the chicken capital of the world. If it was in Australia “The Big Chicken” would definitely be in Puerto. Firstly they breed em big, MASSIVE, scary big, cross to the other side of the street if you see a mean one kinda big. Secondly everyone cooks and sells chicken. “Hang on chunks I’ll just nip into the pharmacy and grab a chook”. So to say it’s the best in town is a big but certainly well deserved call.

Have you seen those little stickers you can get to stick on your car so that it looks like it’s been in a drive by shooting? Seemed like they had caught on here as well until I had a closer look…..

Yep no sticker uh uh no way not here. I saw it first in Oaxaca City and then again today which reminded me to make this entry. I think i would have seen maybe 6 cars total that have suffered in the same way. That being said the whole scene is by no means threatening in any way, especially less so here on the coast i guess where holiday mode prevails. It’s amazing though how those stickers so closely resemble the real deal.

Out in service this morning with the local brothers and sisters, twas a real treat 100% home! The local brothers are weapons with the sword ensuring that it stayed hot all morning. The people are predomiantly Catholic however are more than willing to talk about spiritual things. We meet a sister in a neighbouring congregation today who speaks a little english and is keen to help us out over the next little while with the english territory which is being sent down from Oaxaca City. The 35 publishers in the Oaxaca City english congregation look after the whole area south of Mexico!

hasta luego hermanos, hermanas

Web Log, Web shmog vacum mailing is where it’s headed. No sorry i’m just a slacker Justin’s a weapon at this and seems to break all the stories first which is probably a good thing from where you are sitting.

We’ve learnt a new game since we’ve been here in Puerto so call your friends around cause this one everybody can play at home. Tell them to bring one car a boot full of speakers and there favourite mexican beats. Wait until 10pm then line up along the street and and see who can pay the loudest music for the longest! If you can’t make it to 5am then this ones probably not for you but if you can pull consistent 8am’s then grab a ticket and get over here quicksmart because with some formal coaching you may even be looking at a podium finish. If the neighbours complain then tell them your in training they shouldn’t mind to much. Am i bitter? No nup uh uh not me no sir. (if you didn’t understand that last sentence then ask Mitch for a demo). it’s actually kinda soothing really……really. Also good if you have heart troubles the beat keeps it on time everytime. Apparently it will stop after the Semana Santa weekend shame really……really.

Thanks for the comments i look forward to any word from back home as i’m missing everyone this much
/ /
(this is the length of my outstretched arms on the 90 inch monitors they have here in Mexico.)

A frantic search for accomadation last night (Easter weekend busy busy busy) saw me leave my Lonely Planet guide on the back seat of the taxi, DOH!. Thing was I didn’t realize i had even left it. Imagine my amazement when 5 minutes later my driver comes to a screeching holt beside us as we stand on the pavement planning our next move. Libro libro he yells waving my book. One big word up to my taxi driving amigo in Oaxaca City!
