Apart from driving through the beautiful scenery of the Lake District, there are two main things we want to do today, visit “Hilltop” the home of Beatrix Potter in the tiny village of Sawry near Lake Windemere and the Cumberland pencil factory in Keswick, Cumbria (you remember the Awake article).
For those who have seen the movie “Miss Potter”, Hilltop features prominently and walking through her garden reminds you of her extraordinary talent and achievement.
This afternoon we are off to Hawes, central point for touring the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. After we leave the motorway we travel through green rolling hills covered with stone walls, sheep and little villages.
lee and I watched the movie last weekend, for once one that can be recommended. It was a very sweet movie, the countryside looks so beautiful there, I can imagine it would have fostered her talent.
