Tacos de Iguana

When we visited Edwardo at his work place last week he mentioned that he and his family were going on a day trip this Monday, and he kindly invited us to come along with them. That sounded great… so arrangements were made for a pick-up from or hotel at 10am.

We headed south toward a place called St Agustenillo, a very pretty little seaside village that is less developed than Puerto Escondido. We stopped and had a surf there in a little cove, the waves were about 3-4 foot on the sets. Edwardo his wife and his two kids (Sandra his wife, Flor his daugther – Spanish for flower and his son Edwardo Junior) provided us with lunch, they are so nice and hospitable.

… great swimming in the beautiful blue crystal clear waters …

Driving on further after lunch we came to Zipolite a beach the LPG describe as a place you can do AS little as possible, WITH as little as possible and ON as little as possible. We didn’t stop… dispite Ashley’s incessant pleas, the reason being is that nudist roam free here. The next stop Puerto Angel… a town a bit more family orientated. This town is a fishing port and is very well protected from the open ocean so there are no waves at all in the puerto. This makes for great swimming in the beautiful blue crystal clear waters. We spent the afternoon on the beach swimming and then relaxing then swimming then relaxing under an umbrella… yeah and so on it went. You can do lots of activities here like snorkeling, diving, boat hire or dolphin watching.

… i didn’t die so it’s all good …

There is coral not far off the beach, as we found out on our first swim. And yes it is super sharp, don’t stand up on it like we tried to do. Ashley and I both ended up with Urchin like things stuck in our feet, the end of my foot went numb for an hour or so… but I didn’t die so it’s all good.

In the late afternoon we traveled back to Puerto Escondido and stopped by an Iguana Farm (Breeding Centre – A rare species now due to people killing them for food.), a groovy looking prehistoric lizard. And willing to pose nude for a photo… very obliging.

A sweet sunset again I don’t think i could ever get sick of it. To top off another El Grande day in Mexico.
