Gorgeous Oaxaca Sunset

Rose early to be ready to catch the bus at the terminal autobus. We needed two taxis again, to far to walk even when you know the way, the back packs are way to heavy. Makes mental note; must do something about that!! but what? The bus driver decided to take a different route to the usual one, he reckoned it would be just as quick… I have my doubts 10 hours later via numerous towns lonely stretches of winding dessert highways we were still going. I guess we got to see alot of Qaxacan country side that we wouldn’t have otherwise got to see.

… livin in the dust of the mexican desert plains …

Truly though one town does look like the next after awhile. People have absolutely nothing, a roof over their heads and clothes on their backs livin in the dust of the mexican desert plains and mountains. But the seem to be relatively happy (thats the main thing).

Its startling to see the similarities between malaysia and mexico, lots of unfinished projects, half buildings here and there and run down ruins everywhere. We passed fields and fields of this plant which i thought was pineapple plants. It turns out it was mezcal, a plant they use to make an alcoholic drink from (not tequila but similar).

Oaxacan sunsets are gorgeous. I will to try and get a photo of this natural wonder.

… found us a grubby little joint …

We worried that we weren’t going to get accomodation in Puerto Escondido due to Semana Santa (week holy) being in full swing. Asha did a scout aroung the block and found us a grubby little joint, just happy to get something – everywhere is booked out… Oh our room is high tech, it has keyless entry – just give the handle on the outside a stiff turn and the hey presto the door is unlocked.

We toured the playa (beach front) area, its exactly like Penage Island in Malaysia. Markets stalls line the streets selling every thing from T’s to watches.

Meal times are always a joy, seriously where else can you get two coronas and a handmade woodfired pizza for under AU$10? Only in Mexico… this place is a must visit.

Question. Was the autobus full of chickens in cages ,goats, and little old ladies smoking pipes, and cooking tortillas on little portable cookers?
