Lion De Puerto

With the music still pumping loud and clear (as per last post) i strolled up the beach to the surf break. The surf was good, a little bit smaller perhaps than yesterday but still good. Continue reading ‘Lion De Puerto’

The Real Deal

Have you seen those little stickers you can get to stick on your car so that it looks like it’s been in a drive by shooting? Seemed like they had caught on here as well until I had a closer look….. Continue reading ‘The Real Deal’

Bikini Blessings

This morning we went for a walk down the hill from our hotel into the town centre (the turistica part of it). We had breakfast in a little cafe reccomended by the LPG I had frutia con yogurt y granola.

Afterward we took a walk along the main beach (the puerto) over to Zicatela Beach, its the main surf beach and where most of the hotels are. That’s where we wanted to stay for our time in Puerto Escondido. Forrest (a brother we met in Oaxaca) recommended Papaya Surf to us and said it was nice and close the beach and cheap as well. Continue reading ‘Bikini Blessings’

Web Log, Web shmog vacum mailing is where it’s headed. No sorry i’m just a slacker Justin’s a weapon at this and seems to break all the stories first which is probably a good thing from where you are sitting. Continue reading ‘Sleeping is Overrated’

Gorgeous Oaxaca Sunset

Rose early to be ready to catch the bus at the terminal autobus. We needed two taxis again, to far to walk even when you know the way, the back packs are way to heavy. Makes mental note; must do something about that!! but what? The bus driver decided to take a different route to the usual one, he reckoned it would be just as quick… I have my doubts 10 hours later via numerous towns lonely stretches of winding dessert highways we were still going. I guess we got to see alot of Qaxacan country side that we wouldn’t have otherwise got to see. Continue reading ‘Gorgeous Oaxaca Sunset’

Memorial Day in Oaxaca

The first thing we did this morning was go for a walk to find were the the kingdom hall was. It was easy enough to find according to the directions victor left for us at our hotel. Continue reading ‘Memorial Day in Oaxaca’

Cactus Rhythms

Well i think the mexican life is conducive to sleeping cause we’ve been sleeping in late till about 10am. But mind you we have had trouble getting to sleep, we didn’t even feel like sleep till 1am this morning… but then perhaps i think the siesta we had in the afternoon played havoc with our sleeping rhythms. So there is no way i’m sleeping during the day again. Continue reading ‘Cactus Rhythms’

Buffet with Love

Buffet¿ Buffet¿ Yeah Yeah I know, no love given no care in the preparation, before last night I wrongly assumed that that was the standard the world over. Dishes of all sorts were presented with care, precision and muy bueno flavours. El Meson was testiment to the fact that buffets can be a loving experience. The resturant was recommended by a blonde. Gracias to her. They really do know more stuff.

Mexico City to Oaxaca

Woke up with a funny feeling i think it was the aeropueto nacho’s funneling thru my bowels . The night was spent at Hostel Moneda (Coin), it was clean and included breakfast, free internet. Ash and i shared a four bedroom room we were the only ones in it. Continue reading ‘Mexico City to Oaxaca’

Tale of Mucho Gracias

Who said Mex taxi drivers are crooks? Not me. Not now anyway. A frantic search for accomadation last night (Easter weekend busy busy busy) saw me leave my Lonely Planet guide on the back seat of the taxi, DOH!. Thing was I didn’t realize i had even left it. Imagine my amazement when 5 minutes later my driver comes to a screeching holt beside us as we stand on the pavement planning our next move. Libro libro he yells waving my book. One big word up to my taxi driving amigo in Oaxaca City!

Day One – Sydney to Mexico City

I’m sitting in the Los Angles airport typing from and Internet terminal. The flight from Sydney to LAX seemed really long, i was wedged in a center seat and thats never a good thing with my shoulders. I did have good leg room though cause i was sitting on an exit door right next to the toilets… yeah say no more…

The in flight movies were reasonable, we had Bridget Jones – Edge of Reason, The Incredibles, The Village, Princess Diaries 2. So that really helped to pass the time, as well as reading. Thanks Sarah the surf mag was a killer idea… i’ve read it cover to cover including the ads!

I’m waiting to board the next flight to mexico city on flight UA979, it looks like its going to be another full flight. The baggage checking seemed to go Ok. Oh.. yeah United Airlines charged me $65 for my surf board!! asha didn’t have to pay anything with QANTAS.

The weather here in Los Angles by the way is a balmy sunny day… a great day for a cruise down the hollywood boulevard or a trip out to Malibu… Cya gotta go my Internet time is running out!!

In Between Dreams – Jack Johnson

In Between Dreams Well if you haven’t already heard the news, the new Jack Johnson album is out… yeah i’m little behind in the news myself.

I’ve been listening to it for the last two days and i have to say it’s really a fantastic CD, i would even go as far as to say that this ablum is better than his first and second, a big call? Nah i’ve enjoyed the journey that Jacks music has taken don’t get me wrong it’s still cruisy and its still got a classic raw feel to it… just makes you wanna jump in the surf with your board and stay out till the sun goes down.

A must have CD, especially if your into other musicians like Ben Harper, Donavon Frankenreiter , G Love and the Special Sauce or even the likes of local Australian artists John Butler, Xavier Rudd.

I give this a 9 out of 10 rating, and i can guarantee I’ll be listening to this album for years to come. My favorite songs are Better Together, Never Know, Good People, Sitting Waiting Wishing, Breakdown, Constellations.

Hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

Spanglish (not the movie)

The Funniest thing happened last night…

In a desperate last minute attempt to try and book accommodation in the town we’re going to in mexico (Pueto Escondido) we decided the only way was to ring by telephone because the hotels website didn’t have online booking capabilities… so we had to call. Ice Ice Baby

The Abs Diet: The Six-Week Plan to Flatten Your Stomach and Keep You Lean for Life Over the last few months i have been following the abs diet/bodybuilding program by David Zinczenko. If your the kind of person who doesn’t know what to eat or how often to eat this is the book for you. Even if you are a seasoned bodybuilder and have been going to the gym for years, but can’t seem to lose the last few kilograms (you know the ones that stop you from looking like Mr Universe) then this is with out a doubt the book for you. Am i being payed to plug this book? NO (ok ok amazon gives me a small affiliate fee). I’m just a guy who has had great results and am convinced anyone can do this. Continue reading ‘Ice Ice Baby’
